WHAT DOES THE AUTISM SOCIETY OF GREATER AUSTIN DO?We provide information and support to families all over Texas who are affected by autism through our meetings, workshops, phone line, website and listserv responds to inquiries about professionals, elected officials, and members of the community about autism and best practices advocates for Texans with autism at the state level (during the 2009 legislative session, we worked tirelessly on HB 1574, dedicated to improving adult services and creating a statewide autism resource center; the bill passed!)
With the dramatic increase in the incidence of autism over the past couple decades–from about 1 in 1,000 births 20 years ago to about 1 in 88 births now–the demand for our services has grown beyond the capacity of our all-volunteer staff. We would like to expand, and we hope you can help.
